Instagram has rolled out pinch to zoom for photos and videos in your feed, on Explore or on profiles for iOS devices. The company has been making a lot of changes over the past few months – including a change in app icon, support for longer videos, Instagram Stories, and more. The ability to zoom on images was a highly requested feature by users, and Instagram has finally decided to integrate it with the app.
The Zoom feature is currently available for Instagram running on iOS devices, and will be available on Android over the following weeks. To Zoom a picture, just ‘pinch’ on the image and move your fingers away. The picture pops back to its original size when you take your fingers off the screen.
Instagram’s new Zoom feature will also work on videos, allowing a user to have a closer look at a video without the video pausing.
The recent update of the app also brings the ability to capture photos and videos better in the dark. A new low-light button now appears when darkness is detected by the camera.
Instagram last month, introduced ‘Stories’ for the app, which are photos and videos that are designed to disappear after 24 hours. The feature is an exact copy Instagram updated the app against last month, bringing the ability to zoom while recording videos on Stories. Users can also switch between the rear and front camera while shooting videos for Stories.
The company had completely redesigned their logo back in May, ditching the brown camera icon in favour of a simpler camera icon design with bright pink and purple hues.
