– Tyronne Ebuehi has pulled out of Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria
– The 20-year-old defender says it’s not yet time to play for Nigeria as his club requires his full attention
– Ebuehi says his door is still open for future appearances for the Super Eagles
ADO Den Haag defender Tyronne Ebuehi has rejected the chance to make his international debut for Nigeria following his decision to pull out of Super Eagles 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier clash against Algeria.
However, the 20-year-old left the door open for future appearances for the Super Eagles.
ADO Den Haag defender Tyronne Ebuehi
Ebuehi, who was named in the Super Eagles’ squad to face Algeria told his club website yesterday, October 31, that the time was not right.
He said: “I see it as a great honour that I am recognised in my homeland.
“But at this moment ADO Den Haag requires my full attention, especially now that I have settled in the team.
“Therefore, it seems to me that now does not seem the right time to travel to Nigeria for the match. I want to focus completely on the club, but I certainly do not rule out that I will honour a possible next call.”
Ebuehi, who has made seven appearances for ADO this season, was expected to feature in Nigeria’s right-back, a position Genk star Wilfred Ndidi struggled to settle in the Super Eagles last qualifier against Zambia.
Ebuehi was born in Holland to a Nigerian father.
